This Is the Movement is a newsletter that was started by DeRay Mckesson and Johnetta Elzie to keep allies and activists across the country aware and up-to-date about the state of affairs in Ferguson, MO and all over the US. The newsletters provide amazing resources about current events surrounding state violence in the US, interesting informational articles and links to studies, while indicating which things are most important to read. DeRay and Johnetta were awarded the Howard Zinn Freedom to Write Award this year for their citizen journalism and the creation of this newsletter for having "unified disparate voices in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown."
